this single is very special for visions recordings as we see a fresh collaboration between alex attias and luman child, two swiss artists reunited for the first time.alex proposed luman child a collaboration after listening to his music. then they met and talked about music , visions, influences, method of work and decided straight away to work together without knowing each other well and pushing them outside their comfort zone. they are both very happy with the resultjalex attias has been in the music for many years producing, remixing many great artists and djing all over the world. at the moment alex is about to release a compilation on bbe records ( lillygood party !) , plus a couple of remixes are on the way and he s also preparing other singles for his label visions .luman child produced in 2017 a killer first album with german label solid ground still available on a neo soul hip hop tip. he reached number 11 in the uk soul charts. as a musician and bass player luman child had a few collaborations with ferry ultra, gogo music and marc mac 4 hero.the project they present here is very organic soulful and musical. this single hold two killer tunes for the listener and the dancers.the a side is a 125 bpm disco jazz funk killer jam with live bass, fender rhodes and vintage keyboards sounds driven by a very funky drum beat and live basseline aimed to the dancefloor and good time party people keeping a smile on your face. its simply groovy and goes on and on for 10 minutes of pure disco pleasure.the b side is a funky number boogie jazz funk inspired by mr ayers vibes and sounds . the rhythm is groovy at 120 bpm and the moog bassline is round and fat. accompanied both track by fender rhodes and dope keyboards sounds, this one will definitely find place in dj boxes for those who play and love soulful music with an open mind. groovy , warm and soulful at his best.

following the late night swing of javonntte’s hm002, hardmatter uncovers another detroit talent for their third offering: malik alston. in his first vinyl release in several years, the rebirth ep explores a spiritual jazz soundscape with all of the verve of the city’s trusted sound. beside the soulful ballad of “love changes” featuring evan on guitar, the record’s lead song, “i am”, focuses on malik’s signature instrumentation and live improvisation. the track is a seven minute collaboration between craig huckaby, howard wazeerud-din ii and hardmatterís own zapata, who complement malik’s gospel-inspired vocals, the first time he has sung on a track in four years.

fracture has always tried to support upcoming and interesting newcomers, people they believe in. chevel is one of them, and in 2014 came his first ep for fracture under his alias signalweiss. he returns now for round two. in 4 years, he has managed to establish himself as a prolific and talented artist with a steady stream of records on labels such as stroboscopic artefacts. chevel is an artist who likes to mix things up, always striking an interesting balance between experimentation and more dance floor oriented tunes. with -feelings- and -forbona-, he creates quite abstract but still effective dance music. it is for the club, but it is not mindless bangers. in the hands of pablo mateo, -forbona- turns into a more mental piece of techno. all in all, this new fracture release provides great tools for the smarter selectors out there.

mrr: michael raymond russell / a connoisseur/collector of vintage drums/analog equipment and engineer/producer inspired by 1960’s/70’s underground music. mrr has been producing heavy drum break production inspired by psychedelic rock to heavy funk to electronic library records for more than 20 years. started from a sampler collecting vinyl to now creating a library record label drumetrics with production recorded on vintage equipment from vacuum tube equalizers/valve compressors/tape machines/tape echoes etc. paying back homage to sampled music for producers to utilize.

alma negra are back on heist! after their much applauded 2017 release with that great soulphiction remix, theyve been rather busy taking over the scene. they started their new label alma negra records where they released 3 eps in quick succession, with new as well as older material that showcases their tropical roots and keen ear for clubby reworks. they launched their live show, doing gigs across europe with a highlight at one of londons more intimate live venues: the jazz cafe. their latest outing making their release count a total of 4 in only 8 months was on marcel vogel’s lumberjacks in hell and explored the more live / rework side of their project. now theyre back on heist with 3 new tracks, supported by an awanto 3 remix. conversation is a track we wanted to put out on heist badly, simply because it’s a beast of a track. it sits somewhere between a live african drum track, percussive techno and moody midwest electronics, with pads and strings coming in and out of play while a relentless kick drum keeps the energy on a haunting level. this track is alma negra at their filthiest, and it feels like they’ve taken a next step from last years dark and heavy luanda dub, bringing it from an intimate dreamy stage straight into the main room. this is the place shows a different side of the house spectrum with the alma’s love for dreamy deep house. the track flows up and down, with soothing rhodes chords, arpeggios and mumbling vocals setting a summery mood thats perfect for your warm up or daytime party. meanwhile, their third original track from the heart goes even deeper and navigates around a smart vocal loop topped with strings, bleeps, claps and rimshots that just keeps going.

joe herrick - dream reading: extrapolation records are proud to present the first record by joe herrick, dream reading. comprising of 14 tracks from a vast archive of his material we’ve been listening to for the last 5 years, the album moves from ambient soundscapes to off kilter hip hop and house, all held together by herricks individual use of looping and samples. euphoric, psychedelic, paranoid, rugged, claustrophobic all at once, the dream scenarios throughout include a variety of daily work events, journeys to different locations, family matters, sex acts, and encounters with other human individuals, animals, and deities.

“instead of rain i bring a hat” is a long-distance collaboration between the uk’s aaron moore and norwegian erik k skodvin. it developed gently, taking its full form over the space of nearly 6 years. the vinyl release includes a download code.

the man, the myth, the legend, back in the 80s jesse rae, along with roger troutman and bernie worrell, was part of the p-funk movement that was hugely influential to detroit’s early electronic experiments. lesser known is that the enigmatic scot-funk warrior later produced underground electronic tracks in the 90s. the inaugural release on glasgow label southside shufflers presents two of jesses shufflers on vinyl for the first time on the global 95 ep- a sampler from his pioneering 1995 album compression. ever the innovator, jesse recorded the album collaboratively using live isdn technology spanning three continents, with the resultant tracks fusing african, us electro-funk and old scots influences. 23 years later, jesse’s under the radar shufflers sound more relevant than ever. southside shufflers are a record label and sports collective based in glasgow with outposts in london and amsterdam. sss aint no half steppin!

like all great music, it s difficult to pinpoint what this sounds like exactly - but toronto s block univers have cited their influences to include -boogie, house music, cold wave synths, gospel vocals, 808s and moog basslines- - so that would go some way to explaining the magic here. we tried to jam in as many of our favourites on this release as possible. more bang for your buck!

part 3 of 5 to be released over the coming couple of months. originally released on the phono label in 1995/96 the ‘parts’ series from matthew herbert are a much loved collection of house tracks that sound just as original and bold today as they did when they were first released. this series of 12”s were part of an early wave of exploratory dance music that paved the way for the deep house that still works its magic on dance-floors in 2018 some 25 years later. the mix of herbert’s playfulness alongside expertly grooving production and unusual sounds makes this unique collection of work. the odd few tracks aside this is the first time that these releases have ever been repressed. all newly remastered for this reissue series, the releases include stone cold club classics such as ‘deeper’, ‘take me back’, ‘resident’, ‘people that make the music’ and ‘see you on monday’.

5 would be the key number for the brand new chateau flight release on versatile. its been 5 years since the last release and it took 5 days to record. nicolas (i:cube) was busy with his own material, i moved to amsterdam 3 years ago and as we like to make music in the same space. it took a bit of time but finally it s here, the dam house ep. i invited nicolas to visit me last winter, not to do music but just for a cool adam hang out. this turned into 5 intense days of fun production in my studio. it was amazing for both of us to witness how our connection remained intact after all those years and the ideas came really quick. the vibes of the tracks all turned out pretty different, it s a true chateau flight kaleidoscope with an epic 10mn techno track sargan, a more house vibe, crazy (dam house mix), a heavy dark funk drive of lo and the ambient crazy(ambient mix). this record would have not been the same without redlight records,to whom this records dedicated. james and abel left their shop open at night just for us and as children in a candy store we went through the racks looking for samples that formed the inspiration for this ep.

we introduce comfort zone, a young producer from montreal, who has been making music for around 7 years now. he is inspired by “music from late 90s/early 00s video game soundtracks and the occasional snippets of electronic music i heard as a kid”. we find that statement very much reflected in this release, as he masters the challenge of blending mysterious samples and different styles to form harmonious compositions. on one side of the 4-track ep we have 2 groovy house tracks, reminiscent of early 2000s house by the likes of lance desardi, ian pooley and atjazz, on the other side 2 classic jungle tracks which uphold our tradition of releasing timeless music.

it doesn t get much bigger than this: adam beyer links up with green velvet and drumcode s outstanding rising star layton giordani for a debut collaboration. some musical partnerships feel fated. both fans of one another s work, for years adam beyer and green velvet had discussed writing music together. in turn, beyer s protégé layton giordani had admired the chicagoan s work for as long as he could remember. when the 25-year-old found himself playing alongside the green mohawked legend at belfast s shine, the spark and subsequent friendship was immediate. with the links now set in place, it was only a matter of time before the trio s creative chemistry would manifest musically. ‘space date was conceived organically and birthed quickly. propelled by green velvet s trademark vocal hypnotism, the triumvirate combine to craft a pumping intergalactic slice of techno laced in melody that s highlighted sets by beyer at awakenings, ushuaia and also edc vegas when green velvet dropped it to a raucous response. the track is complimented by rome future , the product of a year-long series of productions between beyer and giordani. deftly combining crisp drum work, catchy vocal effects and a powerful bassline melody that gives the track an almighty kick, it will be familiar to many who ve followed their sets over recent months.

reworking a big tune is never a simple task, especially if after 7 years the tune in question is still one of the highlights in shows of one of the worlds most beloved live act performers, kink. that s only half of the story though, as the tune got a lot of love from so many dj s all over the globe. however, for the 17th burek release, we wanted to do something really special and what could be better than giving new life to a piece of music which literally gave life to our label. and we gathered some very interesting people for the job.

label head honchos rhode & brown finally debut on their own imprint, slam city jams, after putting out music on fellow labels toy tonics and public possession. produced over the past two years, the wave 100 ep might be the most versatile record by the munich-based fellas so far. on the title track we have an euphoric hint of 80s synth nostalgia, slapped bass and banging woodsticks (did someone say safri duo?!). sparkle on a2 feels like the joy of a fresh breeze on hot summer days whilst living la vida loca in the clouds - b/w phat bass, sweet flutes & strings. on the flip there is love lane, a classic house track with a funked up bassline, shuffling snares and the most erotic vocal in human history. moon bells on b2 is the soundtrack to that road trip you did back in 86 with a juno 106 arpeggiator bassline, percussive drums and airy synths all around. over europe on b3 rounds off this special 5-tracker with beautiful ambient spheres straight from outta space.

rhythm is life and life is rhythm. not only is it our mantra here at neighbour recordings, it s also inspired the title of our debut release from brand-new production partnership and label owners base pilot aka quantec and birke tm. featuring four original tracks, the life is rhythm ep is a full thirty minutes of dope, low-slung house that perfectly unites the duo s many years of shared passion for deep electronic music. identify is the ideal introduction, swirling synths and deceptively hypnotic, it s a proper crafty cut, whilst ghosts leans towards a more emotive and subtle groove. title track life is rhythm is a warm and inviting ten-minute epic of chunky beats, quirky distortion and vocoded vocal snatches, whereas closing number on the early is seriously heads-down and deep. repeat after us, rhythm is life and life is rhythm.

articulat is the (new) artist name of ovidiu stanciu, a romanian dj/producer living in rotterdam. under the moniker manikin, he worked on several concept albums with titles like popular mechanics, taxim and grandma s attic revival over the last couple of years. while selecting tracks for this debut ep it felt like curating a best of , and we chose to put three thriving and pounding slow-beat bangers on the a side, and to show more of articulat s versatile style on the b-side. expect experimental electronic songs inspired by themes like steampunk and romanian folklore, very precisely engineered to experience storytelling in the most physical way.

external assessment vs. self-conception by robag wruhme: people always think, im that serene and quiet guy, but actually i’m quite a noisemaker. could be that the majority of the material he put out in recent years, most notably the thora vukk album, led to the overall apprehension of robag being the virtuoso of everything subtle, enigmatic and tenderly melodic. well, thats far from being a misconception, but still just one side of the coin. the other side is embossed with his most current productions, consolidated to a double ep, captioned with the enchanting name wuzzelbud ff. wait a second wuzzelbud devoted fans will instantly prick up their ears. we’ve heard that before. back in 2004 robag wruhme released his first longplayer named wuzzelbud kk. as theres no such scenario robag might be running out of stream-of-consciousness turned nonsense titles for his music, this must be a vocabulary intersection linking the early days of his career with its status quo. and it is. wruhme presents wuzzelbud ff as the stylistic follow-up to his debut album, showcasing a sound he commits has been neglected for too long. wruhme cuts to the chase: i wanted to put out some straightforward music for the dancefloor, something for the primetime. well, for the primetime of my sets, at least.

since 2011, smoke machine have been running a successful and well established podcast series. now, after 8 years, they have ventured into the offline realm and will release their first ep. the record features tracks by blind observatory, dorisburg and agnois. these artists have regularly played smoke machine parties and their larger event organik festival and are in line with the smoke machine sound.

emad dabiri, born in iran, began operating under his alias sarin six years ago with ebm, techno, and audiovisual experiments in toronto before moving to berlin in 2014. kuleshov effect marks his fifth release and displays an evolution forward in his productions that are exemplified by cutup sample techniques, mechanical basslines, and piercing drum sequences seamlessly blurring the fine line between puristic techno and bona fide electronic body music. the ep title refers to a cinematic technique developed in 1920s russia in which two images with different inherent meanings are played in sequence creating a third definition by the juxtaposition. from this concept is where the audiovisual montage and sampling approach of sarin is developed. with regular and infamous performances in the berlin club circuit as well as the rest of europe, dabiri expertly implies how his precise methods of production articulate themselves into the techno framework with music that is pure and mechanical yet incessantly funky and addictive. obsessively sampling from films of espionage, tension, conflict, and war, sarin fuses this imagery with his meticulously curated compositions to force through a new sound.

variable is the first compilation on pi electronics, which also kicks off the new catalogue peva. this various artists release includes the works of several artists involved in the label till now, along with some very familiar faces to pi that have been supporting the parties in the past years. the aim was to bring the main label roster - artists with original music on pi, such as jk flesh, ontal and damcase - under the same roof as artists that have been with the pi electronics project since its early days: the label s party residents, 3.14, nemmett and das along with other fellow athenians, unhuman, bmsk and the project “i am legion, for we are many”. the outcome will be available in cd, vinyl and digital format, while the vinyl sampler will feature jk flesh, ontal, nemmett and bmsk.
regardless of the different variables, equation drops back to the same constant result.

i am really proud to present this 3-tracker by victor ruiz on noir music. i think he is one of the best and most flawless techno producers right now and together we have carefully picked three tracks which perfectly showcases his production skills. i often write how i’ve worked with the artists on my labels to make their tracks reach their best potential. with victor i feel everything has been served to me on a silver platter as his productions are already perfectly crafted. although victor changed details right up until last minute, some of thesetracks also dates back 2 years, so he has had plenty of time to make everything sit and sound right. after a nine month break from releasing originals i feel truely honored that victor has chosen noir music as the label for this venture. both victor and i feel these three tracks compliment each other and at the same time showcase his skills to make great, diverse music. check the entire release. the music will speak for itself.

the recording sessions for rastrumentals took place over seven years, between são paulo and brixton, but the roots of the project stretch back to the arrival of digistep’s father in 1970s bristol. aged 18 he had almost nothing to his name, apart from his treasured vinyl collection. these records are still in the family, and have been invaluable in shaping dubkasm’s unique sound. rastrumentals combines samba instruments such as the cavaquinho, pandeiro and cuica with the work of some of the uk’s greatest reggae musicians.
